This badge bit (BB) is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the wood badge in textiles.

This project begins with sourcing vegan-approved natural material(s) then making and reviewing a winter coat.  This full-length coat is intended to keep you warm and dry all day at sub-freezing temperatures.

Review unlined coat or jacket BB or lined coat or jacket BB for more information on the sewing component.

Minimum requirements:
  - Must use materials that are not animal-derived
  - Must use materials that come from natural sources like current-era plants
          - not petroleum-derived or produced
  - Sew a winter coat
         - Must be lined or have all seams enclosed
         - Must be mid-calf length or longer
         - Must include closures like buttons or belt
  - Review your coat during one continuous 4-hour stint of being outside in it at temperatures below freezing

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as video (approximately 10 min):
  - The materials and material content you are using
  - Sewing the winter coat
  - The finished coat on a body
  - Outside with a clock and a thermometer
  - Time-lapse video of your activities
  - Outside with a clock and a thermometer at least 4 hours later
  - Describe how comfortable you are/were or how hard you had to work to keep warm

Under the sew a coat requirements it says "Must be mid-calf length or longer" but higher up says hip-length, so maybe the mid-calf should say mid-hip?

I read it that the "hip-length" refers to a different BB with more sewing info on making a coat, rather than that this BB is for a hip length coat.
Wow, can't wait to see what people come up with!

Good catch - I reduced the potential confusion and edited the titles of the BBs I was referring to so that all lengths refer to the mid-calf requirement for this BB.
