I thought this was interesting: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/pai.13659

They looked at data from Finland following over 3000 children from birth to 5 years.  There was a positive association between the consumption of high heat treated dairy (which included most formulas) and asthma.  In Finland, and all over Europe, you can buy "shelf stable" milk which has been ultra pasteurized.  In this study they showed that consumption of the highly processed milk increased your chance of developing asthma.

The researchers looked into this because they had noted that consumption of raw milk was associated with less asthma.  However, apparently it's hard to come by raw milk in Finland?

I think this appeals to me because we are able to buy low-heat pasteurized milk (old fashioned slow pasteurization) that is non-homogenized in Portland, Oregon. It's from Garry's Dairy: http://garrysmeadowfresh.com/
We've had raw milk a few times, and it tastes the same as Garry's. My kids used to complain that "regular" milk tasted "cooked."

Very interesting, I assume it's probably to do with developing immune system. We use UHT (Ultra high temperature) milk as our standby milk, we're not big milk drinkers so there is not point keeping fresh milk in the fridge. It's really the equivalent here of powdered milk, (which is also in the same >100C processing group)

It's interesting that in the results they say that

Consumption of all cow's milk products [1.09 (1.03, 1.15), p = .003], nonfermented milk products [1.08 (1.02, 1.14), p = .008], infant formulas [1.23 (1.13, 1.34), p < .001], and strongly heat-treated milk products [1.08 (1.02, 1.15), p = .006] was associated with nonatopic asthma risk

They didn't look at raw milk so that cannot be added in.

Here in Denmark you can legally buy raw milk from anybody who has a cow, in reality it's hard to find.
