Apples - sometimes I can't figure out when they were awarded

Earlier today I was on 430 apples. I noticed because it was a nice round number. Now I am on 432. Ok, cool, I earned some apples.

I like to check and see what I got them for, so I went to my profile. It shows one apple earned today. The last one was on the 15th. Hmm... scratching my head. I check emails. Definitely only one apple notification email.

I'm not massively invested in this, so please no one waste time digging into it or anything, but I was wondering if it was some known thing that not all apples show up in the profile, other than in the main count? Can you be awarded apples in some way that doesn't get tallied?

I think it might be a pie feature to award 2 apples to a post, perhaps the second apple doesn't include a notification?
