Not sure if anyone has seen these. They use a parabolic cooker to charge the molten salts for two hours and you can then cook later when the sun has set.  I'm sure you could charge this with a Rocket Stove as well.

https://www.sunbuckets.com/

Costs are $150 for the basic model and $250 for the unit with built in power for lighting.

Hello,

So the issue is you have to stand out for hours in the heat, and it hurts your eyes a bit to cook on these devices!

The benefit of the rocket stove and pyrolysis cookers is that this is an easy method to ease people into because it is more pleasant to use, they use less wood and less smoke, Several people I have been acquainted with are still researching how to make this process easily available for people in third world countries. providing economic savings and also reducing the resource requirements of the family!

I also have used solar cookers, I hated them they hurt my eyes and I got bad sunburn!

the other issue is cleaning them and they can start fires!

the other issue is weather, cooking outdoors in the rain.

If these issues were addressed then these solar cooker then they would be great!

James, where are you finding these for sale? Their website seems to indicate that they are selling them in a lot of 100 at a time.

For select things, I have used a Sun Oven. I’m very satisfied with the performance, although the unit could use some significant improvements. Of course the main problem is when the sun disappears and the food is only partially cooked. So the idea behind the sun bucket gets past that obstacle.

I’d be interested in purchasing if I knew where to get one or two.

I emailed one of the directors and have a project in mind that's not on that scale but still non profit. These were the prices she sent me.

Allen your points are valid. I like fire. I also solar cook most weekends April to September and closer to the equator if I can get there during my winter. I have a big hat and welding shades. I'm a ginger who burns and you have to know what you are cooking with. I just like that solar cookers are so simple. I can go to the dollar store and for under 5 dollars, build something, that cooks my food all summer when there's sun.

I just gotta ask after going to the websites Frequently Asked Questions":

Can I purchase a Sun Bucket?

Sun Buckets are now available in lots of 100 units or more. For a quote and to learn more, send us an email.

Are you planning to start a business selling these?  Do you know where they can be purchased individually?

https://www.sunbuckets.com/faq

This looks like a really easy DIY using an old satellite dish.

Has anyone tried doing a DIY?

No I'd bring it to an area in Eswatini to an Orphanage I travel to every couple years. Yes the website says 100. In my conversation to purchase the Sun Bucket to try smaller quantities were offered.

I read that this company was doing testing in Kenya.

Have you thought to ask about a promotional product since you will be taking it to an orphanage?

Maybe the company would give you a discount for providing the company with how this worked for the orphanage or for a review.

I'd gotten away from asking for help and maybe it's time I start again.
