Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this but……
I was gifted an iMac some years back and didn't realize every time I saved a book or an image it was going to iCloud and I don't want ANY of my stuff there I want it on my personal computer only.
How do I remove and transfer my info to my iMac and get rid of the iCloud?

Not knowing what OS you're using, I believe if you go to System Preferences, you'll see an icon labeled Internet Accounts. Click that, and on the left of the new window you should see iCloud. Click that and then you should see a list of checkboxes of apps that are using iCloud. I don't know for sure, but I think unchecking every box will prevent any iCloud backup. I think iCloud and your iCloud account are still there, I do not know if doing this is the same as disabling iCloud.

I have Safari
I think I know how to get in to uncheck the iCloud box but I don't want to lose all my books and images so do you know how to transfer them to files on my iMac?

Would a memory stick work for doing that?

Yes it would capture images but I want them on my computer just not iCloud which I never wanted and didn't know that the powers that be control iCloud and want money if it gets full.
My books are ebooks and audio books and I don't know why I have to go through some app to listen to them. I just want the freedom of using my images and books without being connected to the internet or some app out there and at the least removing everything from iCloud and saving to my computer which has plenty of rom for it.

What the memory stick is used for is to capture what you want on your computer.

Then transfer to your iMac.

At least that is how we use the memory stick to transfer files from an old computer to a new computer.

I don't know where to put images and have no idea how I can get the books on my iMac because they all go directly to these areas without ever asking like Microsoft PC do..it's different

Can you go to the SSD and create a file directory?  You can call the main directory "files", and subdirectories "movies", "ebooks", "music", ect.  Then you can just default to your save directory when you want to keep something.
