I got an Insta-Pot Christmas of 2020.  I think I have tried to use it maybe 3 or 4 times.

After cooking ribs, the pot/pan was really bad with stuck meat or BBQ sauce.

I clean the pot/pan really well twice before trying it the next time.

The Insta-Pot said, "Burned Pan" or something like that.  I have not tried cleaning the pot again as there really isn't much to clean that would cause "Burned Pan".  I saw a pinhead size spot on the bottom and a few spots inside the pot left from trying to clean it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

In another thread, I read about steaming the pan clean.  If I try to use this method will I still get the "Burned Pan" until I get it clean?

I've had about... a dozen instant pots.   I like them a lot, and tend to give them away.

I'm not familiar with the 'burned pot' message.

When i'm using the Saute seeting it'll sometimes say 'BURN' or something like that when it's getting to hot or it things I've done something wrong.

The stainless steel really more like 'less staining that raw iron'-steel.

A bit of water and steam in the pot for cleaning probably wont hurt.  Heck, try pressure canning it for 1 minute.  I'd stay away from soaps as they might cause bubbles and cause venting issues.  Maybe some white vinegar.

Could it be something on the bottom of the insert?  Grease tends to do this for me.

Evidently, Instant Pot has been bought by Corelle and their website is hard to maneuver so I could not find what they said about the "Burn" notice or "Burned Pot" that I remembered.

Asking Mr. Google says things like:

"The burn message, usually displayed as “burn,” “OvHt” or “Food Burn,” is part of the Instant Pot's overheat protection system."

"Instant Pots have sensors that report when the temperature at the bottom of the pot is getting too hot. "

"Instant Pot Burn message means overheat error. It is one of 13 safety features of your electric pressure cooker"

These are not what I read last year in the FAQ.

I guess one day sometime in the future if I feel like getting the thing out I will put some water in the pot and stick it in the Instant Pot and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
