John, I am talking about American Goulash.
The kind with pasta, ground meat, and a tomato sauce.
I used to make the Hungarian Goulash for many years. I found the recipe in a Hungarian Cookbook that I think someone gave me.
For that, I used stew meat, lots of paprika and served over noodles.
I quit cooking that when dear hubby said he hated paprika which I thought was strange because he loved my goulash. Years later when I no longer had that recipe I ask why and it was related to a paprika potato chip that someone had offered him a taste of.
