Hello, I'm a young Canadian looking to get into the permie community. Amy isn't my real name, I am shy about revealing personal info online, I'm interested in the various uses of plants (for food, fiber, medicine, dye, etc.) soil protection, providing habitats for local animals, and overall ethical sustainability.
over the pandemic we had a boom of birds on our property. we even had tree swallows nest in our yard!

We also had a lot of frogs this year, even leopard frogs. it's been five years since I saw a leopard frog passing through, and the last time we saw them they looked sickly and were acting abnormally. But, these guys are healthy and alert!

I am hoping to keep our property a healthy spot for the native wildlife,

I am looking forward to learning and maybe even contributing some knowledge as I learn and experiment!

Welcome to Permies--so glad to "meet" you!

This is the perfect place to dive in deep with all the interests you've listed.  It will be fun to read about what you observe, learn, and try as you weave more and more Permaculture into your life! Best wishes and enjoy all the goodness around you, and around the site!

Hi Amy;
A big welcome to Permies!
Quite alright you are protecting your identity.
We do not require your real name just a real-sounding name... you know like Amy Tailor!
What province are you located in?  We have Permies from coast to coast and around the whole world!

Do you know what Rocket Mass Heaters are???
Pop on over to the RMH forum and learn all about them!
In fact, you can learn about almost any subject here.
Stick around awhile, and come back often.
We will leave the light on for you.

Welcome from another Canadian! I'm a transplant from Ontario to New Brunswick where my partner and I just bought land. We are very much interested in making the land a good habitat for native plants and animals as well!

Check out Keith's YT - Canadian Permaculture Legacy!
He's in Ontario too.
I'm on Vancouver Island & as soon as I have property, I'm starting my food-forest.
I've worked on a local organic veg farm 9yrs but Permaculture is way easier.
Jennifer is my real name. Lol
Take care SiSTAR🌟

Hello Amy, from the UK. And yes, Ara is a shortened version of my real name (blame my mother). I love reading about people's experiences from all over the world although sometimes I have to look up what they are talking about. E.G. I never knew pillbugs were wood lice (also known as chucky pigs!). I visited relatives in Ontario more years ago than I care to remember but somehow never got back. I probably won't now due to the knowledge of the damaging effects of air travel but I liked what I saw. It is lovely to hear that the local wildlife is enjoying your property - long may it continue.

A late reply, because I just got to the party, and no, Woodruff isn’t my real name either.

I’m starting my relocation this year to a newly purchased property in the Timmins area, and looking to connect with Permies in Ontario.   Have you had much luck finding people?
