I have the video footage of 140 videos on my laptop right now. Most of them are ready to go and just need the editing and uploading and stuff. Give me $200 and I will fast track a video and add your name/biz as "produced by" at the end.

Feel free to ask here about what videos might be about ready to come out.

I have video footage on a hundred species of plant. I've been thinking that the dandelions video would be the next one.

Other stuff that is the most ready right now:

mason bees
jacqueline's bee tree
jacqueline's unpainted hives in a bee hut
jacqueline's bee waterer
plant guilds
farmer winter income: art
the value of brushpiles
tour of bullock brothers farm
camas and pigs
cob beauty
another double chamber cob oven by ernie and erica
electric tractor with steve heckeroth
feral farm stuff - awesome growies and general philosophies
greywater
the flavor of different honeys
advice for interns
keyline stuff
kiki denzer making bread
livestock guardian dogs
ernie tests knife sharpness and sharpens knifes without a stone
geoff badenoch's urban park
jacqueline on the value of voles
christy nieto on the value of wasps

And probably about 40 more that could go out, but I want to get more footage.

Other growies vids that could go out: burdock, bamboo, bindweed, chickweed, lambs quarters, pigweed, plantain ....

I have video about a hundred more growies, but am holding off with the idea of getting more footage. But I could push what I have right now and make another video later.

About two years ago I put together a ton of stuff for a ten minute video on chickens. the idea is to mash my full two hour presentation into ten minutes. I have lots of artwork done and a few video clips done. This is an uber vid so being a producer for this would be more like $1000.

Paul:

Just a thought...

Would you consider passing along the raw footage of those videos to an editor/producer so that they may be "produced" faster? i.e Give raw footage to 20 different folks with "video skills" and give a realistic deadline and perhaps a "script" or voice-over. Completed videos could be submitted back to you and then released by you upon approval.

This may help to clear your back log of footage and get more info out to the world faster.

It is a thought.

At the same time .... there have been about 20 different times where somebody has said that they will assist with stuff, so i spend four hours bringing them up to speed, and then give them a task that will save me 30 minutes, and then they decided to do something else instead. This is why it has been so great to have Adrien helping. He has actually accomplished a lot of stuff. And when he says "consider it done" it gets done.

So part of me thinks I could put five videos of raw footage onto a jump drive, mail it to somebody, and then a week later, the jump drive returns with five videos ready for upload. That could be mighty handy. But I suspect that what will happen I that I will need to have six hours of conversation to get the five videos edited, where it would have taken me five hours edit them myself. And after two months of asking "do you have those videos done?" they finally say "Paul, you are such a dick. You know what: fuck off. I'm not going to edit these videos because you are a dick." So I've put six hours in, and have zero product to show for it.

I seem to have a excellent skills at converting a volunteer that loves my work into a time sink that hates my work.

So, yes, a great idea that has the potential to be a big time saver. In theory. In practice .... have I mentioned how Adrien is really working out?

You could make it a contest. Upload the raw footage to Youtube and allow others to download and edit it. Pick the best one and offer a prize. That method would work just as well to find a "full time" editor. I've done a small amount of video editing and know that it is time consuming. I also know that one person's vision is tough for another person to duplicate. So what you expect to get back from the editor may be far off from what you actually receive.

How much wiggle room would you allow in style and presentation? (assume all the data are correct)

What would you consider a realistic deadline for a 5 minute video? would you wait longer for better quality?

In what way could the editor be compensated? Money, work trade, gifts, preferential priority to permies' events... Discounted (free) seat on the next tour?

For any video editors out there: What would it take to get you on board with helping Paul with his video constipation? There has to be a fun way to get good results...right?

Bart is now taking on the videos. He's been working on another one for about a week now.

Bart, do you think there could be pieces to farm out?

on the mason bee one not sure since i think to get everybody organize will ask for to much trouble, but to have a totally different little project farmed out and checked as a test run why not. I can over see that if you want Paul.

I found the footage. I moved it to the folder - which doesn't do you any good right now.

How about the vole stuff?
