Thank you! Good to know but I don't have to worry in my climate. It's too cold for them to grow on their own outside. Our local stores sell them as pretty annuals that die every fall.
I've been growing them for two years now, they truly are beautiful, though I havent had any fruit yet. This year I'll try to keep the roots alive over the winter.

Yes, they do fruit.
It seems the color of ripe fruit varies between plants. I just try to keep the area under the plants free of weeds. When they are ripe, they fall from the vines.
