I'm looking for a caretaker for a few acres my family has in the Olympic Peninsula, Wa.  My wife and I have a house and a cabin on 5 acres.  There are some fruit trees and a stream but most of the rest is north slope hillside and thick woods.
We rent the house via vrbo when we're not there (we visit several times a year for a week or so, up to a month).  I had a friend who lived in the cabin for several years, but she met a partner and married, which I'm really happy for and the cabin is now empty.  My friend and I had plans to raise chickens, maybe goats, and do some farming but her health never allowed that to happen.
The cabin has power, water and a composting toilet - I just put in a wood stove and will be building a new back porch early next year to store wood.
I'm looking for someone who is interested in building something and willing to put in the work.  Must get along nicely with renters in the main house since it's the rent from there that allows us to keep the property.  I see this as a platform for someone wanting to build a farm - I can provide land and housing, they can provide labor and we can share ideas.  I have a day job, so if there ever is a profit that should go to the person who did the work.
I would want to meet face to face since I'd like this to be a longer term situation.

Let me know if there's a better forum for this post - or other venues.  Craigslist isn't great, and I'm not on the corporate sights (twitter/facebook/etc).

Cheers

Robert, welcome to Permies. I added your post to our Cascadia forum. There are a few other forums that might help, depending on how you envision the financial set-up for this offer. Please take a look and let me know if one or more would suit.

I'll be glad to add it to those forums as well.

Hello Robert,
Hope this finds you well.

I'd love to discuss it to learn more about the where, what and how's, etc. I  do not really communicate on other platforms either. If you'd like to have a conversation, my number is 520-432-7192, or my email- alexandrabodkins@gmail.com. Currently I'm on Orcas Island in the San Juans.
Thank you and take good care!

My name is Serena. I’m interested in this opportunity to live on the land and tend the gardens. I currently live in northern Oregon and I’m looking for a place to live starting this summer. I’m an experienced gardener, forager, wildcrafter, and plant lover. I lived on my sisters land for the past 3 years and helped her grow a permaculture garden and food forest. I love gardening and being outdoors with room to breathe.

This sounds like my dream life, living in a cabin in the woods and taking care of chickens and the land. I have a daughter. She’s 7 and is the world to me. She loves nature and helping me garden and forage.

I’m sure you found lots of people who have responded to this incredible opportunity, but if not please reach out to me. My email is serenahartwell@gmail.com and  I’d love to hear from you!

Hello Robert, I was looking for something similar. If you still need someone send me an email: arassemih1998@gmail.com

I am an aspiring writer, I want this mainly to get away from everything and concentrate on my writing. I have gardened before, and even tended sheep. I can take care of the property, help you with the rented rooms, and build a garden and tend goats. We might turn this into something larger, depending on what you want. I also know a thing or two about building. Take care!

I'd like to throw my hat in.  I have family in Seattle, and have lived in WA,OR, and CA.  I'm a jack of most trades. I currently live in Ashland, Ore and am looking to relocate.  I have the following skills: Regenerative Gardening, basic electrical, landscaping and lawn maintenance, general handyman, tree planting, irrigation systems, and generalized auto repair including trouble shooting and minor small engine repairs.   I would love to discuss my qualifications and have great references.  My educational background is in Natural resources/Sociology.  I am a director for www.GreenEarthCity.org  and am currently working on Community Land Trust modeling with land acquisition purchasing through Limited Equity Coops.  I write, snowboard, play music, bike, and generally spend a lot of time working on my projects.  Looking forward to seeing what new opportunities are possible. Hello Robert,

Not sure if you're still looking, but I am looking for land to tend on the peninsula. I have lived on the Olympic Peninsula for the past two years (going between Port Townsend and Port Angeles) and I'm in love with it. The biodiversity is magical and there are infinite possibilities. I'd be honored to meet in person and see if I am a good fit for you and the land. Best, Dawn Szombathy ~ 713-444-2234 / matterofnow@gmail.com

Hi Robert, This sounds exactly like what my partner and I are looking for and we both have a deep love for the Olympic Peninsula. If you're still looking for help, we would love to chat and are curious about where on the peninsula you are (my partner lived and worked in the park for a summer). We are hoping to spend this fall/ winter (and perhaps beyond if it's a good fit!) doing a work-exchange for housing where we also have the opportunity to tend the land. Feel free to send an email to us both: krissyvelardi@gmail.com and cfryephoto@gmail.com

Kindly, Kris
