I've been wondering about what makes a movie that folks here would appreciate.
I don't mean permaculture-related documentaries, though of
course those are great. And I don't mean to call out to the elite cinema afficianados and ask for their most cultured picks. I mean, what movies do you like pretty well that you think have something in them that would make them good picks for permies.
What do you like about them and what do you think the general appeal is for the people hereabouts?
I'll start by throwing four into the mix.
Captain Fantastic
Deals with homesteading, wildcrafting, unschooling, and the points of friction where an unconventional lifestyle meets the world at large.
The Secret Garden
Reminds us of the magic of childhood exploration, venerates nature and gardens.
Into the Wild
Shows a young man's departure from the normal civilized world to carve his own path. Deals with wilderness survival and the danger of not being prepared.
Minari
I'm not fit to talk about this too much because while it's on my watchlist, I haven't seen it. But I'm pretty sure that there are people here who have (and want to) moved across the country to a pretty different place than the one to which they are accustomed. And people who want to start a farm. It also looks pretty cute.
