Has anyone here actually paid for a permaculture design? How was that experience for you? And if you haven't, why didn't you? Trying to weigh the pros and cons of paying for a design. thanks!

I have paid for such designs.
Why, because I am a Civil Engineer with a keen interest in Permaculture but not a deep understanding
of the matter.
I can build bridges, roads and water supplies.
But I can get a lot of help from somebody who has put a lot of learning into Permaculture.

I am happy to pay for the leg up.

Hi, Tien,
I didn't pay for it. I'd just tried to learn as much as possible and apply it where I can. My reason is that I'm gardening as a hobby in a shared garden, so I cannot expend money on this.
Also, a permaculture design is just a framework. You also need to know how to garden, how to build things, and such. The design just informs you where it is best to place things, but then you have to check it constantly, getting feedback. Even if I were to pay for a design, I need to know how to apply the feedback.
That said, it's a lot of time invested in this, so if you don't have the time or the wish for learning, and have money instead, it would be an option.

If you can't spend the money, you have to spend the time.

I do not see either side as superior, whatever works for you.

If it interests you as a hobby, then the knowledge would be better gained than the dollars spent. If you want to get something up and running as quickly as possible, then perhaps pay. All up to you, your goals, intentions, and every other nuance.

Welcome to the forum.

I have not paid for a Permaculture Design because I can ask questions here on the forum and get lots of help.

Is there value in paying someone I would say it depends.

What are your goals and visions?

Do you want a blueprint of what and where you want to place your plants?

Do you want suggestions on what and where to plant?

Do you want ideas for what goes in which zones?

If the end goal is something like this then I would say yes there is value to paying someone for a permaculture design:
