Someone gave me an insect fogger. Don't worry...I'm not planning to use it. I was reading the label though & I had to laugh because one of the insects it has on it's kill list is called a confused flour beetle. I'd never heard of this one before.

I wonder if this is what we've been infested with (came in with a fifty-pound bag of oatmeal, which I just took out to the garage and will use for chicken feed!).  Hmm.  Off to do some research!

Yup!  That's it!  Thank you for posting that -- it's always easier when you know what you are dealing with.

Haha! You are most welcome! I'm laughing because my posting that was totally random & it actually helped someone. I love it! Hope you are able to confuse those already confused flour beetles right out of your homestead!

It is funny, isn't it?  But I'd been wishing I knew what to call those little bugs so I could look them up and figure out what to do about them (besides the obvious getting rid of the oatmeal, once I figured out where they were coming from).

There are two kinds, the confused flour bug and the red flour bug, and the red one will sometimes fly, which is what my grandmother thought, but I hadn't seen any flying.  So we probably have both kinds (I've seen two colors).

Little nuisances -- they've been getting into everything.

holy moly! I'm having flashbacks....... I had a major infestation of flour moths last year I hope your beetles are easier to get rid of!  pheromone sticky traps worked for them.
