Hi,
I have a post up on the permies singles forum.
There is something I said in the post that I would like to slightly modify. (delete just one word really).

But I can't seem to find a way to do that.

Can someone help me please.

thanks
Max

Top right of the post you want to edit have "..." button. Click that and it will expand to expose an edit button.

I hope this helps!

Hey thanks for your response but hmmm

well ummm it's confusing because when I click the "..."  it just gives me three options:

Quote" "Report post to moderator"  and  "share "

Nothing else any where that I can see. Any ideas?

I checked with looking at my own post that has been longer than a week and I see what you are seeing now. I have a hunch that there is a time limit with editing a post before it gets "locked".

I'd wait to see confirmation from someone who tinkers with the site background mumbo jumbo.

The edit button disappears after a time.

Yes, I think you are right that it is locked.

And I read a bit around the link that r ranson provided.

It makes sense for a lot of things.

But in my case, it's just a slight rewording that won't really change the content but I feel uncomfortable with something i said that doesn't really reflect who I am (not to mention that i'm not 31 years old any more, but that I guess don't feel a strongly enough to need to modify because birthdays happen).

Who would the person be who would be able to unlock the post editing even for a couple days so I can modify this word (really its maybe three words).

It seems a pity to delete the whole post or repost just for this one thing but I feel misrepresented enough that I would do that if there is no other way.

Thanks for your understanding and for all the hard work you all put in!

We don't delete content (except sometimes).  The link above explains it better.

Try the report button on the post and one of the moderators can turn the edit button on temporarily.

The big problem is that some people have abused the edit button in the past so we tend to be hesitant to turn it on without good reason.

Hey, sorry.
I didn't mean to say that any one was deleting content. I was just saying that I could delete and re-post my own post.

I'll take your advice and use the report button.

Thanks =)
