I found this forum a few days ago while doing research on intentional communities, and found a new hangout in the process. Don't know how I managed to avoid this place for so long, but I'm sure glad I finally found it.

I've been evolving ideas for an intentional community for a number of years, and am finally just starting to work toward making it happen. It definitely won't be in western Washington state where I currently live. I'm still researching areas, and have it narrowed down quite a bit. I recently picked up the book Strategic Relocation which has made some of the research I was doing the hard way a little easier. I've already been looking at Montana, and I guess if I want to find out why Paul is all gaga over Missoula, I'm going to have to go check it out myself.

Cool, welcome to permies. It's a great place.
I used to be involved in an intentional community.
20 some people lived in a huge house, I had a key. I was a food member, so when the drama got too much, I got to go home -- very nice.
After listening to Pual's podcast, I agree that most of the "issues" arose over food -- I hadn't ever assessed why it got so whacky.
My favorite story was a neighboring co-op (all in the area are clothing optional), had a 6 month debate on whether or not utilizing the clothing optional portion of the community was a wise choice while sitting on the counter tops in the kitchen --seriously?
Butt-naked on the counter tops?! No.
Consensus at it's worst!
Good luck on your search -- should be fun.
