We are planning the landscape for our new house construction.  The excavator just offered us some big granite boulder rocks (about 3-4' in diameter) at a good price.  How should I use them in my landscape?  What is their value?  I live in a cold climate (zone 3) in the rocky mountains.  Too many voles and moles - will this just attract more?  Thoughts?  Ideas?

I'm interested to see what more useful responses you get, but the first thing that comes to my mind is play-equipment for goats (and human kids too).

Where I live everyone has rock entrance gates.  Or at least people who can afford them.

These entrance gates are beautiful.

I wish there was some value for large limestone rocks because I would be a millionaire.

Here is a thread on how to use rocks:

Meta permaculture theme - it creates an Edge

# Heatsink/Microclimates
🪨 South-facing slope solar sink (behind house or anywhere against a north-facing aspect)
🪨 Wallapini greenhouse walls
🪨 For mediterranean herbs spirals
🪨 Pond surface heat sinks (Sepp Holzer style)
🪨 Petracuniculum, reptile rock pile grottos
🪨 Bird baths and water features (use grinder and masonry disk)

# Structure element for hardscape
🪨 Foundation pile in permafrost
🪨 Retaining wall (anywhere, ramps, erosion locations, raised beds, hillside 'drain well')
🪨 Retaining wall of overflow edge of your watershed system. Swale diversion
🪨 Wind breaks
🪨 Viktor Schauberger's river/stream vortex to reduce bank erosion (if you have streams)
🪨 Camping/Fire pit edging for camping sites

# Art
🪨 Build your own stone hedge to celebrate solstices
🪨 Decorated marker stones on windy paths. Petroglyph art.
🪨 Rock Walls with integrated planting
🪨 Hardscape accent feature in asian themed gardens
🪨 All kinds of aerial photography "alien" installations and mosaics for profitable hoaxes

(Ideally observe sun and fluid patterns for a year to find most beneficial spots)
