I think I was told once or perhaps read somewhere, that fresh eggs (as in direct from the nest box fresh)  will not turn out very well when hard boiled.  Okie dokie all you chicken folks, is this really true?

I had tuna sandwiches with tomato soup for lunch, I like to use the egg in the tuna, which made me think of this question.

Peace

That is my experience.  I intentionally use 1-2 week old eggs for hard boiled.

Fresh eggs hard boil just fine.  The problem is that they are hard to peel cleanly.  As the egg ages, it allows the white to separate from the shell easier.

Very fresh eggs are fine for almost any other use- scrambled, baking, etc.

A trick that my mother uses for fresh eggs is to put them into ice water immediately after removing them from the boiling pot.
