I use the Amazon wishlist feature and for several years, I could use their browser plugin to add things from off-site vendors. That meant that I could use Amazon as a central source for things I was interested in keeping in mind and maybe buying at some point in the future and people wanting to buy me a gift could use it or just get ideas. maybe a year ago, Amazon apparently eliminated the plugin and disallowed adding things from other websites. The things I added previously are still there, so that's good, but now I'm thinking about what can replace them as a single point of wishes. Then it occurred to me that you fine folks might have already done the research and have interesting things to say about it.

So, do you?

So far Amazon still lets me edit the external links in my wishlist. So I have just edited those when my desires have changed. It would be great to have a non-Amazon wishlist, though.

My spouse and I struggled with this when planning our wedding. My spouse keeps a document of the things I mention I want usually with me saying "This would make a great gift, put it on the list!" So that's what we decided to do.

For our wedding registry, we made the document that I've attached. We had our church put it in the newsletter, and we emailed or texted it to everyone else. Worked great, everyone loved it. We got LOTS of canning jars and a new canner that someone found in their basement (with the price tag still on it!) Someone brought us herbal medicine, and we got everything on our list except metal trash cans. Best low-tech, no strings attached version.

This sounds like a fairly simple thing that someone could set up as an independent website (if one were a programmer type). I imagine it could quickly pay for itself through affiliate links......

looks like someone has already done it! I just found https://mywishlist.online with a simple search, and seems to do this - you can use email lists or Facebook to share your list if you want. There maybe others doing similar things but that was the one that was easy to find. Although it seems to use Amazon products as the example it says it supports any online shops - you just input the url.
