how to create a youtube account

We will be doing the streaming stuff for the DVDs via youtube. For those that purchased it via the kickstarter, the idea is that they tell me their youtube account and I give that access. Somebody asked me HOW to create a youtube account.

Anybody have any advice on how to create a youtube account in 2013?

I googled it for you/them.

They request a lot of info now to create an account. I wasn't comfortable giving google all that info so I found there are ways to do it without providing it. There are YT videos about setting it up without giving up all your data.

I actually remembered that I had an old Gmail account that I didn't use. It was set up years ago before all this data collecting crap. I was able to use that to set up the new YT account.

As a side note, how the hell could you set up a YT account if you had no phone number? Certainly there are people who don't have one right? Seems like an unneeded step to me.

Yeah. It seems that each time I log onto YouTube, they pop up a window trying to get me to switch my youtube account to my gmail account.
If I did that, I could probably expect to get some unwanted email every time I posted a comment @ You Tube.

I already get enough spam without putting my google mail name on everything I post online.
They also ask me for my phone number so they can text me if I need to 'recover' my password.
They're NOT getting it.

That is the main reason I will not try Google Chrome.
They already know too much about me...they're not getting my browsing history too!

My Youtube acount is BarnGeek and I did purchase during the kickstarter, if you want to use me as a guinea pig... BTW when should we be expecting the DVD's to arrive? The anticipation is killing me.
