I've been told, and seen other people being told that if they want to meet someone here they should post in lots of forums, not just the singles one.
My question is, "Who has time for that???"
I'm standing here at my computer covered in wood bits taking a 5 minute break before I get into something else that will take the rest of the day.  In the evenings the last thing i want to do is read about other peoples hard work.  Don't get me wrong.  I do love it.  I wouldn't trade this type of life for anything.  OK, back to work!

I think the idea isn't so much that you can read about other people's work, it's so that other people can see yours, what you do, how you choose to spend your time and your energies, what sort of person you are, and if you'd be a good match for them.

Heck, I'm far from single, but I'm somewhat curious to find out why you are covered with wood bits - from a chainsaw, cutting winter fuel? turning lace bobbins? carving something? making furniture? And what is the 'something else' that entices you to spend the rest of the day doing it? If you're looking for a partner and wouldn't want to trade your life for anything, it might be worth letting people see what sort of life you are hoping to share with someone.

It could be that whoever suggested was speaking from experience.
I guess if you dont have 5 minutes spare to learn about a potential partner,
then not much will happen. Or you will make bad choices.
In have to say, relationships dont just happen!

Hi, I enjoyed watching your YouTube. You are a super talented engineer, intellectual individual, and amazing dad. I see that's who you are.
I noticed what people who are looking for a partner on this website talk about most is what they do and what they have. No one is telling what they need and want from the other person at psychological level. Also being clear about what you can offer to your partner will help. I always wonder and want to know what they actually want... Do they want cuddle and watch movie every night? Or, do they want intellectual conversations about books? Do they want to be the decision maker? Or, are they open to ideas and opinions from the partner? Do they want to spend all day with her or rather value their solitude in the woods?
It's not easy to talk about your inner self especially for men, but that's the quickest way to attract what you want.
I also hate to waste my time on advertising myself on everywhere. So just saying
Good luck to you!

It looks like this thread has run it's course and has more posts removed than published.  It's now locked.

May I suggest that permies isn't the most sympathetic to complaint threads.  If one has time to complain about how busy they are, they have time to post positive threads about their projects or maybe help someone else with theirs.  This is doubly so in the singles forum.

Some more information on what we publish on permies.

publishing standards
be nice
leaving room for other people's ideas
perennial discussions
why me and not them?
Where did my apples go?
And real-sounding name policy
