Stones/rocks

I confess I haven’t checked the forums for stone usage, yet…

Been picking up millions of them lately, and rather than the typical uses for walls or masonry, I have been using them for drainage filtration, and snake dens etc.

It would be interesting to see what others use them for

Cheers

There are so many uses doe stones though it all depends on how big or little they are.

As a kid my mom picked up stones from different places.  She used them to go around trees for decoration.

I had a rock border around my Butterfly Garden

The former owner left us piles of white pea gravel which we used to make a parking area and to go all around the house.  This border is good for walkways as well as the parking area.

We made some flagstone walkway at our house when we had our homestead.

Yes, apparently some trees like oaks, like stones / in the soil. I also have been using them around alders (which create seriously rich black soil), and red birch trees

Salamanders also like using them as blankets

The cottage I have recently relocated to here on Brier Island, NS, has serious black soil, up to over 18" !!!

It's gardener heaven on this property, surrounded by the Nature Conservancy of Canada as well so hey

Thanks for the comment

Much Love
