I just found a steel propane (?) bottle in the dump, and wanted to weld* a stove.
To do so, I would however need to remove the paint. There seem to be different options:

-Sanding or grinding the paint away
-Burning it away
-Using paint removers
-Something else?

Sanding seems to put the paint particles everywhere, would have to do it inside
Burning will lead to pollution, as it will be difficult to reach a safe temperature
Paint removers seem like really toxic chemicals. Are there safe paint removing chemicals?

What are your ways of removing paint?

*Never cut or weld a bottle containing a flammable gas! first fill it with water!

Use a sand blaster, it will come out shiny metal.
Depending on how big a bottle you have it might fit in a blast cabinet.
If it is too large, then you have to do it with a hand wand.

Thanks for the tip with the sand blaster, but I guess the paint will just be removed as dust, and fly everywhere as well.

Why remove the paint?

Will it not just burn off when the finished stove is started up?
