Hi there,

Does anyone grow the hardy perennial  known as Persian shallots (allium stipitatum)?

It happens to contain a useful medicinal and I'm trying to track down where I can get some to start growing them.

At least here in the US you can buy them as ornamental selections.  You only need to buy a few and then they will make piles of seeds that you can dramatically expand them with.  Hopefully that's one option for you in Canada.  Good luck!

We were trying to find these to put into a recipe, we can't seem to anywhere, so we're just going to give in and use more standard shallots instead  None of the grocery stores around here sell them.

They do sell sliced and dried Persian shallots online if you want to go that route.

Our friend got assigned this task, so I'm guessing he is indeed getting them online, for our dinner together on Fri. night.
