In 2021, after reading a post from Permies staff member Jordan B. I bought my first pair of Blundstone steel-toe slip-on work boots,
He loved his, and most folks on his island also wore them.
I wanted a new daily wear, slip-on that could be worn on construction job sites.
So I gave them a try.
The Blundstone # 172 work boot met all the safety requirements for work and all of my personal requirements for daily wear.
At work, I need steel toes and steel shanks, and boots must be over the ankle.
They must have high heat, chemical, and slip-resistant soles.
The #172 easily meets all requirements.

At home, I needed something comfortable and easy on and off.
I work in my Dragon Tech shop, often on my knees. I needed steel toes and a large toe guard to protect the leather while crawling around.
They are also fine, go-to-town shoes. Liz has her doubts about that, but she puts up with me anyway.

My current pair is still in use. The steel toes have had a sand/epoxy coating a few times.
The soles are getting slick, and the stitching is tearing loose.
The original foot pad wore out, and the replacement pads are also wearing out.
It's time to retire this pair to occasional use on extra-nasty jobs and break out the checkbook for a new pair.

My new boots are on the way!
I'll try not to wear them in the shop or take them to work, BUT... before long, they will be my daily shoes.

If you're looking for a comfortable steel-toe work boot that lasts, look no further.

I love Blundstone safety boots, but recently got a pair of Grisport; similar, but from Italy.  I find them better for walking with more shock absorption.

To be clear, your first pair lasted four years of daily use?

Yes, these are the only shoes I wear.
On the job, at home, all day, every day.

How often, if any, did you put any maintenance into the leather? I'm already impressed how much they have held up, just curious the level of abuse they might of taken!

I used Obenauf's boot grease on them a couple of times a year.

Developed in Idaho for firefighters, it is one of the best.

My new boots arrived today!
They sure are pretty before they go to work.
They fit perfectly, and I expect no break-in time.
I'm rebuilding a portion of my Shop Dragon, and the studio dragon is next.
While I work in the shop, I'll keep wearing the old ones for a while.
The new ones will go to town for a few months, and then before snowfall, they will become my daily wear shoes!

I put boot polish on my good ones each day.

Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. Check the tiny ad.
