Subject: Skilled Craftsman Seeking Intentional Sanctuary and Right Work

My name is Christopher. I’m a father, a skilled carpenter, a land steward, and a man who has lived many lives within this one. I’ve spent years building homes, leading groups, restoring broken structures—both in the physical world and within myself.

Lately, the life I once chased—the one marked by noise, accumulation, and always having to prove something—has fallen quiet. Not in despair, but in truth. The material world has lost its pull on me. What remains is a desire to live honestly, contribute tangibly, and be part of something rooted in service, simplicity, and spiritual presence. And id like to be clear, my life is together now. I have a great apartment, steady work and projects, and a circle of loving and loyal friends. By all rights, I've got what most want, but I'm seeking more through less.

I’m seeking sanctuary—not as an escape, but as a turning point. I want to offer my hands and heart in exchange for a place to live and work. I’m skilled in carpentry, general labor, land and property upkeep, and I have experience in communal living, men’s work, and guiding conversations that matter. I’ve helped run retreats, built gathering spaces, and know how to show up respectfully and pull my weight.

For now, I would be coming alone. My 16 yr old son will remain with his mother while I create something stable and worthy of his return.Hes lived with me for many years, and we just passed the batonThat’s a quiet part of this: I’m not just looking for a place for myself—but preparing a future he can one day step into and feel peace. But it starts with me stepping out of the material world I once held, and finding refuge in simplicity and useful cooperation.

If you're part of a community, family, or land-based space that needs help, seeks presence, or has room for a new rhythm, I’d love to talk. I’m open to work-trade, long-term contribution, and deeper commitment if the relationship feels mutual and right.

Thank you for reading this. Whether or not our paths cross, I wish you well in whatever you’re building.

With respect,
Christopher  James

Hi Christopher James,
I've got a land based space that needs help and all our your skills could be put to use here.
Check out my post and if living here seems interesting to you send me a private message with your phone number and we can discuss things.
If not, good luck in your search!
Jolene

Thanks for your reply, not sure if I'm supposed to respond here before messaging you, so my apologies for doing it backwards if so. Haha

Happy Saturday!
Here's a photo of what I'm currently working on.

Blessings, Christopher! We're creating a wellness sanctuary community on 40 acres in the Ouachita National Forest between Danville and Waldron AR and use those same words "not an escape" but place to deepen connection to self, each other, and nature. We are scientists, turned yogis and learning permaculture as we go. There's currently an open concept house with 3 bedrooms/2 baths built in 2015, greenhouse, garden, orchard, 2 car detached garage/workshop. We are blessed with lots of natural building materials and a saw mill and would love to build retreat housing and for ourselves to open the main house to community and guests. We're 30 minutes to a town but there's lots of natural beauty to explore and rarely any traffic until you get to Little Rock 2 hours away. If this might be of interest to you, please reach out. https://www.connectionprogression.us/resonate-sunshine-wellness-sanctuary

Keep shining,
Nate and Sunshine
