I’m confused on why the solar house build is needed. Can’t I just put all the wires inside a medium sized box and run the final wire in my house and opalce the solar panels propped up against the ground on some tarp instead of building a whole thing? I got the book from the freebies section, and aside from aesthetic reasons, I am confused why such a setup is needed.

I am specifically referencing this one:

You probably could just prop the panels on the ground, but you risk weeds growing over them, lawnmower damage to panels or wires, snow building up from the base of the panels, and probably other hazards. The only reason I would not give panels a firm base would be if I wanted to move them frequently.

Most folks I have read about make a rack for the solar panels so they can be tilted toward the best angle for the sun in their area.  Have you done that calculation?

Even if you live where no wind blows, ever, I would follow the guidelines.  These are not arbitrary ,capricious directives.  Please remember the folks experienced in solar are trying to pass along help and best practices
