Hey Permies,  It's been over 4 years since I registered the domain permaculturesingles.com with the intent to start a matchmaking business.  The need for matchmaking services keeps becoming more dire in our society.  I'm throwing this post up real quick to get some feedback if a) you'd like this service or b) you'd like to help provide this service.  Thanks,  Bill

Yes, I might be interested to patronize such a business.

Before duplicating efforts, I would wonder what this website or service would add to the world of permaculture singles that this forum is not already satisfying! Personally, I like the simple and accessible design of this website, and the integration of the singles forum with the many permaculture message boards.

The idea is to provide an affordable one-on-one matchmaking service vs initiating communication on your own.

Thanks for the feedback.  We'll see if I can gain some traction and plan a launch.

Here is a payment structure breakdown of my idea.

Permaculture Singles is a $100 anual membership.

Of the $100, 80% goes to the matchmaker that intakes the client.

Remaing 8% goes to Paul, and 12% to me.

I am head matchmaker and will intake the first 100 clients.

Matchmakers will be selected. The first 10 intakes are unpaid and counted as cost of entering as a matchmaker.

There will be an advertising budget that comes out of my income.

I hope this sounds interesting to some Permies.

Thanks,  Bill

I'm not your target, so there's no particular need to satisfy me, but I've read this pretty carefully and I really have no idea what you're proposing except in the vaguest of terms.

Maybe spell it out in detail what this is, who would be involved, and what exactly they would do?

Hey,  I wanted to update real quick.  This endeavor, in true permaculture form is all about the manual.  The manual will explain who this is for, and will include a self assessment.  The manual could be a stand alone book and I am considering releasing the manual before launching the service.  I've been trying to embrace writing over the past few years.  I think Paul could be a big help in writing the Permaculture Singles manual.  Post here if you'd like to see me and Paul co-author the Permaculture Singles manual.

OK, here's the problem with what you're proposing.  ....and the problem with dating sites in general.  It's a $100 annual fee... what's the incentive for you to be successful in setting people up.  Al you do is lose a customer.  No one wants to endlessly be subscribing for a service like this for years.

If you found me someone that I actually click with, and we seriously get together I'd give you $10,000 and think it a good deal.  If you got paid for success, that would set you apart from al the others.

The forums have the problem of not being a private or secure way to share personal information.

We have people dropping emails and phone numbers in plain view. Purple moosages confuse new users.

Its also hard to tell who's actually still looking and who's not, to remove a post you have to say something in "tinkering with the site" which leads to users being potentially email spammed if they exposed contact info.

A standalone site could solve those issues this forum isnt meant for.

The annual fee could feel wasted if life makes a match for the user before the matchmaker. Personally I would be in the market for a matchmaker but I'd wan't to see a track record. I also think a homesteading matchmaking service would expand the dating pool sufficiently more than just permaculture from a marketing perspective.

Not sure about a "manual" as I think that is a subjective & broad topic. Although "How to find your homestead honey" has a nice ring to it.

My 2 cents as someone who's still dropping by here every now and then.

If you click on someone's name you should find a selection to send them a PM and some of us have our location and growing zone info there as welk

Yikes 🫣 I've been scrolling for a couple hours so this should be fun. If nothing else it's definitely a big lesson on what not to do. Thank you for your help, if you run across my email and number let me know 😂

Ohhhh so I just learned if you click on someone's name or go to your profile it shows how many times a person has responded to a post and if you click on it it gives you the links and takes you right there. Um not sure I like that feature exactly but in this case it made finding my two posts with my information easier 🤗
