Wood stove converting to mass heating bench

Ive seen some partially converted to where the flue comes out the back/side of stove and runs through a bench... still not very efficient, since its not reburning the unused fuel.. My stove flues out the top. Is it feasible to put a heat riser and barrel directly on top of my stove? My biggest problem is how high the bottom of the barrel will be off the floor. It would require quite a drop in flue to get down to the appropriate height of a mass bench. Otherwise the bench would have to be so tall you would need pole-vaulting lessons to get up there and warm your bum.. buahaha! Heat rises, so would it be able to make a vertical dive of a foot or more before turning horizontal into the bench?

While none of these is exactly what you asked for, you really need to get your wood stove burning cleaner before you progress to a Thermal Mass Bench !

With the barrel setting right on top of the Wood stove but hanging over the edge to allow the Hot exhaust gases to fall through your extended Transitional Area
down to near the floor ( We will have to insulate this area to protect your floor!) you can then channel your hot exhaust gases through your Horizontal Ductwork
in your Cob Thermal Mass Bench !

I really appreciate all of your advice. I will look into these leads you gave me in hopes of gaining knowledge as far as terminology is concerned.
