I couldn't find a better place to put this.

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/earth-insight/2014/mar/14/nasa-civilisation-irreversible-collapse-study-scientists

Historically, this report is unassailable. It has happened... repeatedly... for the reasons they report. And now we have the hallmarks of a civilization ramping up to collapse.

Why? Because we hoard and consume the surplus, rather than sharing it and recycling it back into the Earth's systems.

Who survived these previous collapses? I think those who are closest to the primary production of basic needs survived the best. Those who knew how to maintain their own lives. Also, staying out of the path of rampaging hordes of starving people probably helped.

And for the bumper sticker version of the article:

And they will announce a new government program to stop it. Because that is how much they don't get it.

I'm not sure who the "they" are here. NASA is just identifying the problem.

I think Permaculture is a major part of the solution.

So why would NASA fund a study like this?

Coming soon... headline...Nasa asks for more money to fund giant star fleet so the elite can escape the coming collapse...

What we dream:

The Earth got used up, so we moved out and terraformed a whole new galaxy of Earths.

What THEY want:

... waged war to bring everyone under their rule

Where I think we are:

a few idiots tried to fight it, among them myself.

James Hansen, now retired from NASA, is probably one of the smartest guys in the world. He's one of those guys who thinks stuff up. He operates a website, http://dieoff.org/, which presents a series of papers and studies which may be of interest.

Could you hold this puppy for a sec? I need to adjust this tiny ad:
