free hugelkultur workshop on april 26

It would be good for people to arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. We officially start at 9am. We will talk about hugelkultur and do a little Q&A.

We have lots of wood to gather and move. We have an excavator and a dump truck in motion and several different soil types to work with. We have mountains of seeds. We have mulch. We have the opportunity to add artistic shapes.

We will be filming.

We will provide lunch and dinner.

Everybody will get a chance to drive the excavator (if it is running).

People coming from far away can set up a tent and stay a little before or after. (April in Montana can be cool and wet)

Limit of 24 people.

(note in relation to the gapper program: if you get set up, come out and do a good job - you can come back and you don't need to pay the gapper fee)

Please ask questions in this thread. When you are certain you will be coming then send an email to workshop at richsoil.com.

Lots of the work on this stuff has been going on since last fall. Lots of it has also been going on the last few days. I was driving one excavator for about seven hours yesterday. And will probably do the same today. Shovels are flying and artistic vision is evolving.

If the weather is good, we might be able to do an early evening tour of the lab - complete with the sun scoop berms (one for the lemon tree and one for the tipi), wofati and the pond there.

I'm slightly confused. Is this open to anyone on the dailyish email or limited to 24. I'd love to attend if there's room.

It is both.

It is open to anyone on the daily-ish email up to 24 people. So person 25 will be turned away.

Drat..I wish montana was closer to Georgia. Sounds like a great experience.

How much I would like to attend... but I did find a place that really could use hugelkultur..... Antigua.... The wife and I just got here for a couple week visit and I can't help but look at the possibilities of hugelkultur here. They are into a long drought.... might be an island of 12 X 14 miles, but not much rain in the last few months. So I will continue to sit on the beach and think of all the friends I have that could be here with me !!!

Sounds like a great time. I'm getting jealous of all the fun you're having there. Lots of plants going into hugelkulturs and swales here too.

So we still have a lot of room for more attendees! make sure to email workshop@richsoil.com to secure. Not sure weather the video will be available yet or not we will have to see what happens.

We had a lot of replies to the daily-ish e-mail, which then needed to be forwarded to workshop AT richsoil.com. Either Sam or I have replied to everyone who e-mailed so far. (There was a small delay due to cleaning equipment around here. )

We still have some room! E-mail us if you want in!

Some of the filming might go into the mini-documentary or the main DVDs from the World Domination Gardening Kickstarter.

If you arrive late, you might not be able to find us. We have already started hugels that are 12-feet tall, so we could be hiding behind them. Plus, we have hugelkultur beds both here at base camp and the lab, which is down the road a bit. So if we go to the lab right at 9:00, where there is no address and hundreds of acres without landmarks, you really wouldn't find us!

Bummer we won't be able to participate as we'll be on another road adventure! Please keep us posted about later dates, though!

Yes, I feel exactly the same. I'd love to come, but there's no way I can get there from Georgia this weekend. Good luck guys and have lots of fun. Also, I probably will buy the DVDs when they become available.
