Hi! I've been lurking here for a while and decided to make an account today so I could make a post.
I tried to post in the permaculture singles forum (I read the guidance from Paul first and made sure it was permie-focused), and when I clicked Submit it just took me to the forums landing page and when I check my profile it says I have made no posts.

Is there a minimum requirement as a new account before I can make a new topic? Is the singles category particularly restricted? Is it something in my post that got silently censored? Is it because I'm on mobile? I appreciate any tips you can offer. Thanks!

Interesting puzzle.  Nothing obvious on your account.   Let's do some troubleshooting.

Where are you trying to post?  A link to the forum would be best.

Imagine like you are calling the IT help and they walk you through the most obvious things first.  Everyone already knows to turn it off andon again, but somehow it fixes it when the guy is on the phone.

What steps are you taking?

What browser and operating system are you using?

I tried posting here:
https://permies.com/f/42/singles

I'm using same browser and OS I used to post this topic so I think we can rule that out.

I tried posting again with no images. I also tried removing all my message text except a single sentence. But I did this by hitting "back" and editing so maybe trying to start a new topic will do something different.

I used the self-describing word "queer" in my subject line which can get flagged in some moderation tools (too aggressively in my opinion as it limits self identity discussion) so I'm wondering if that's the case - but silently failing without telling me why isn't particularly helpful.

There we go. I tried posting it fresh and it went through. I think the images caused it to stall on the first attempt and any subsequent tries with the same draft failed.

Glad it wasn't a case of over-aggressive censorship.

From the information you gave me, I cannot see anything on our end.  You haven't even triggered a spam filter,

Queer is within normal here,  sorry,  can't blame that.  But if you do worry, have a read of the "how permies works" link in my signature.   This is a heavily moderated site and we only publish content within the permaculture comfort zone.

No, unless you have more information, the error seems to be on your end.  Wonky connection might do it.  But if it happens again or you have more information, one of us can run the troubleshooting again.

Text speak can prevent a post, but you would get an error saying why.

I wanna be clear that we practice aggressive censorship.  There's lots of shit I just don't wanna publish.  Naturally, the people that get censored find it to be "over-aggressive censorship" and they leave.  So that worked out perfectly for everybody.

The people left behind are often glad that that person left.

You say "over-aggressive censorship" like it is a bad thing.  Those of us that have been here for years, especially those of us staff prefer to call it "the perfect level of getting rid of the nasty shit."

:)

I guess everyone has an angle. Fine, what do you want? Just know that you cannot have this tiny ad:
