great work Nancy, It is good to see people that understand hydrology use the best techniques as your photos show so well.
Many small dams work far better than one or two larger ones. They allow water to slow down before moving on and that means settling can occur and thus erosion lessened.
swales and berms are great for controlling water as well, move it all along the contour lines so it doesn't gather up momentum as it travels down hill.
