These videos are great, I see deep mulch as a "ground level hugelkultur" and want to implement both! I'm concerned about the type of mulch I can get though, our city has free mulch/compost but it's broken down materials from multiple inputs and I find bits of plastic in what I've picked up. So it's quite likely there will be herbicides/pesticides residing in there. I just ordered 6 yards of topsoil to be dumped tomorrow for the back yard, and planned to cover it all with mulch.
Everything is monetized around here, so it's tough to decide if it's worth spending cash on someone else's mulch which might be the same industrial sources as the free stuff. I have no way to generate sufficient mulch/compost on my own, so for now outside input is needed. But I'm really looking forward to implementing this on a future property!
