The current model for agriculture is one of systematic dependence. The farmer sprays fertilizer to help nourish the crop, these sprays reduce the ability of the plant to defend itself from pest attacks. The farmer then sprays an insecticide to prevent total loss of the crop, this lessens the ability of the plant to take up nutrients so the farmer applies more fertilizer and the circle of death continues. This model has been being touted since the 1940's by companies like Monsanto, it helps only those companies involved in producing the chemicals that perpetuate the cycle of death. The net result, other than billions into their pockets, is the reduction of nutrition in the foods that people eat, which makes the people more likely to get sick which means more money into the pockets of doctors, and drug companies who, big surprise, support the modern agriculture model.
Finally we have more and more people willing to educate themselves ( as opposed to being taught ) and viola, we find these self educated people discovering the truth about real nutrition and these same people are doing something about it. They discard what doesn't work and discover what does work then they put these discoveries into practice. This is happening all over the world today and I am overjoyed.
It is however, sad that the very companies that want folks to believe they are doing all their deeds for the betterment of mankind, are doing the exact opposite of their advertising. It is also sad that those we the people elect to make sure our best interest is upheld, are out there turning their heads towards the dollars spent to get them to look the other way while big business rapes and pillages like the buccaneers of old. It is saddest of all when the people stick their heads in the sand and keep putting those elected officials, that have allowed the pillaging, to keep on being in a position to continue the "Status Quo".
