I have been exploring further in the hidden corners here at La Ravardiére and have come across this little beauty .
Now how to treat it well .

I have so far managed to take the Wheels off using traditional method number one .*
After I have replaced the split pins I will put it back together . My Question as a good permie what should I use for grease ? Palm oil . ? Vasaline ?.

What should I use to treat the metal ? oil ? paint ?
I intend to make a platform out of wood and use this vehical to transport wood, tools hay and other bulky stuff round the site

If you paint over the rust, it will continue to rust and the paint will fall off. You can sand or wire brush it off, prime, and paint, or, if so inclined, use a rust converter and then paint over that. I have read that soda (Coke, etc.) has enough phosphoric acid to do the conversion, but I've never tried it.
As for lubrication, lard might be a better option than any light oil. It will tend to stay in place longer.
Hopefully someone who knows more will chime in soon...

the Palm oil I was thinking of is similar to Lard in melting point
The paint I was thinking about would be a one that reacts with rust not just a covering .

That old with only that little rust, the majority of the frame doesn't need that much protection. Old steel was better that way. I would vinegar patina it (look it up for knives, but basically slather it with cheap mustard and wash it off the next day) to turn the rust black and then oil with lard or palm kernel.

As for the wheel "bearings" you want to use the stickiest stuff you can find. A mix of lard or tallow and wax works well.
