Suffering on the labs

Time for a thread about all the awful things we gappers are subjected to.

Yesterday it was cold enough that this happened.

Then the sun rose and it was super ugly too:

Tim and kristie have a herd of super vicious cows that could gore anyone at any moment. Here's the worst of the lot:

Oh and the milk from their milk cow is just...oh who am i kidding, it's frikken great.

And if you're really unfortunate you get to work on really crappy projects like the 10x10. The blazing heat we've had all week somehow froze the ground. And the trees that grow in that ground. And the sap that flows in those trees. And the drill that we use to drill the logs that we cut from those trees...

Fortunately the ground is surprisingly easy to dig this time of year:

But some people don't like easy work so we tried lighting fires to get the ground to freeze. Worked pretty well actually!

But just like anything, keep doing it long enough and you end up with a nice big hole like jesse's:

I'm starting to lose track of what is sarcasm and what is legit complaining .

Yet another dreary day on the farm...

I'm sorry that you have to "suffer" through such indignities. May they befall the best of mankind!

Yes it is terrible. Fortunately tim and kristie have it pretty bad too; misery loves company

So i post all these pictures of dawn but the fact is that most of our work with tim & kristie is nocturnal. This is a skiddable generator shed, tim's design:

Despite my doubts, it skidded well enough. Money is tight as always so we tried to conserve fasteners: 12 5" screws, 12' of rebar, about 120 3" screws between the roof and the deck. All milled lumber and short screws were scavenged from the scrap pile.

The real hardship today, though, is that we have all this milk so we need to make cheese. I have no doubt that the cheese will be terrible as well.

Thankfully even the animals understand the value of hard work

Sitting here on my lunch at work and reveling in the pictures of "hardships" i hope to endure as well come spring (:

Your cows make chocolate milk? Horrors!
