Nature… is the living medium of our emotions and our mental concepts.

All our qualities — and particularly the most human ones like our need to be in connection, to be perceived as an individual, to be welcomed by other life and give life, in short, our need to love — spring forth from an organic “soil.”
We are part of a web of meaningful inter-penetrations of being that are corporeal and psychologically real at the same time. Humans can only fully comprehend their own inwardness if they understand their existence as cultural beings who are existentially tied to the symbolic processes active inside nature.

Success requires leadership from all levels of society, including from people everywhere working to grow community-facilitating cultural values, institutions, and infrastructure in the places where they live.
Together we need to achieve four conditions critical to the transition...
1. Earth balance.
We must reduce humanity’s total environmental burden to bring us into sustainable balance with the capacity of Earth’s generative systems.
This requires immediate action.
2. Equitable distribution.
We must achieve an equitable distribution of wealth and power.
Immediate action is required to stop the further concentration of wealth while advancing equitable cooperative ownership.
3. Life-serving technologies.
We must advance technologies that strengthen rather than impair life’s regenerative capacity.
Immediate action is required to roll back use of harmful technologies, including the use of toxic chemicals in agriculture and our dependence on carbon and nuclear energy.
4. Living communities.
We must rebuild relationships of people to one another and to nature to create strong, healthy, deeply democratic living communities.
This will involve reducing dependence on money while encouraging sharing and mutual self-help in the places where people live.
It is time to unite as families, communities, and nations in our common identity as members of an ecological civilization, with a commitment to creating the possible world of our shared human dream.

How do we live human unity?
The first step is to make sure
that our hearts are clear of any hatred and prejudice
for others who are different from us.

Organisms are not clocks assembled from discrete, mechanical pieces;
rather, they are unities held together by a mighty force:

Biology… is discovering how the individual experiencing self is connected with all life and how this meaningful self must be seen as the basic principle of organic existence…
Feeling and experience are not human add-ons to an otherwise meaningless biosphere. Rather, selves, meaning and imagination are the guiding principles of ecological functioning. The biosphere is made up of subjects with their idiosyncratic points of view and emotions. Scientists have started to recognize that only when they understand organisms as feeling, emotional, sentient systems that interpret their environments — and not as automatons slavishly obeying stimuli — can they ever expect answers to the great enigmas of life.

We habitually erect a barrier called blame
that keeps us from communicating genuinely with others,
and we fortify it with our concepts
of who’s right and who’s wrong.
We do that with the people who are closest to us
and we do it with political systems,
with all kinds of things that we don’t like
about our associates or our society.
It is a very common, ancient, well-perfected device
for trying to feel better.
Blame others.
Blaming is a way to protect your heart,
trying to protect what is soft and open and tender in yourself.
Rather than own that pain,

“When dealing with children it is important to be in that state of calmness because they will pay better attention when we are in that state.
I first listen to what they have to say (children will then understand that they are important and that makes them think better) once they are through speaking I just answer them the best I can.
If they ask for help with something, I give them that help. In my culture, people must ask for help, this shows that they are ready to learn and will listen and retain what they are taught. (this is how it has always been in my nation, for it does no good to teach if one is not ready to learn)
The best way to help a child through stress or frustration and the anxieties these can bring, is to show them calmness, get them to understand that the world will not crash around them just because there is something going on that they can't control. (this goes for adults too)
