Vegan Organic Compost

I am curious if anyone knows of anyone supplying vegan organic compost?

I have yet to come across any, and living downtown Seattle makes it impossible to build my own compost bin!

Also curious if anyone else has an interest in growing gardens using a vegan compost? 

I would think it would be pretty easy to get vegan compost.  A lot of people compost only kitchen scraps with no meat, dairy or eggshells.

While the commercial stuff gives me the willies, it is probably quite vegan.  Or, are animal manures out?

You might be right PW, many compost companies may very well offer vegan compost.

But specifically I am hoping to find a company that guarantees that they have a product with absolutely NO eggshells, bones or manure.    No such luck....yet! 

One to check out might be General Hydroponics. They make a product called "Florablend" that says:

I guess that is where a line must be drawn as to what is an animal and what is not. Doesn’t it take some living creature to break down the solids, digest them and turn them into compost?

My personal preference is to use only compost from my own source so that I can trust the final product. The worms and insects and microbes do all of the breaking down, I am providing them with habitat, and I don’t have to worry about manure that has come from factory farmed animals and/or is contaminated with antibiotics, chemical dewormers, or herbicides.

The last two times (I didn’t learn my lesson the first time) that I bought a product (mulch/fertilizer) to use in my yard the results were disastrous. Now I just compost my own kitchen and yard waste. Well, I do get coffee grounds when I can find them – from a coffee shop.

you cant have vegan compost because that would be abusing the micro organisms that made the compost, as well as all the worms and other criters that died to help make the compost.

I would only use manure from animals that was fed a vegan diet. So manure from a commercial / factory farm I would consider toxic.
