A couple of years ago I rented a big house for the first Permaculture Voices conference. That was a lot of fun. You can save money by sharing a large place, and there are lots of options on vrbo.com and airbnb.com
I had that thought too - about renting a big house to share - but I wasn't sure I was ready to take up being the point person on that. There's also a lack of nearby rental houses that I could find on VRBO and AirBNB. The two likely places I was looking at are already gone, though there's a super fancy 4 bedroom in Lebanon, OR for only $710/night. It's looking like we may end up at the fabulous Rodeway Inn this year.
Nice! I think we've decided to skip out this year, just because there's so much to do here on the homestead and so much else we could do with the money we'd have to spend on lodging. A hard choice, and we almost reconsidered when we heard Erica and Ernie would be there. Might work up a last minute plan yet...
I just heard about this event on a different forum, but not sure if I will be able to go. But for some good reasons. I just put a bid on 40 acres of land in Eastern WA. So I am hoping to have the bid accepted or start negotiations here pretty soon. Which would mean I will be a bit busy with land. Getting it, prepping to move over to it, buying tools, shopping around for a travel trailer to park on it to stay in, etc...
But come next year, I will be very interested in going. Especially after being on land for a year.
Hope everyone going has fun, and let us who didn't go know how it went.
