Hey all!!
Does anyone have any experience using extra kombucha mommas to ferment other drinks or would they only be good for tea and sugar?
Thank ya!!

Many people experiment adding other fruit flavors to kombucha, but I've only made it with tea and sugar.

My daughter makes our kombucha for us and she adds some kind of fruit juice when she bottles it after it has fermented and lets it sit over night to ferment some more (the mother gets new brewed tea and sugar added). I don't know what other kinds of fermented drink you could make with it but there is a company in a nearby town that has a range of flavors available.

I started using my scoby for brewing sour ales. I make a nice wort and then do two weeks of scoby action. I then boil it again to kill of the bacteria and add yeast to do a normal fermentation. No good probiotics from the scoby, but it works well.

I've make coffee kombucha - but I didn't like it much. Supposedly the stony needs caffeine... but is there caffeine in hibiscus tea?

Otherwise not really used it for anything else - I have water kefir and a ginger bug that I use for sodas

I agree. Here's the link: http://stoves2.com
