Melania Trump Bans Monsanto Products From The White House

First Lady Melania Trump has banned Monsanto products from the White House after learning of the health effects associated with consuming genetically modified (GM) corn, according to reports.

While public debate rages about the safety of genetically modified food, Melania Trump says that as far as she is concerned, GM products are best avoided.

“Barron’s health has improved out of sight since we started eating organic, non genetically modified food,” the First Lady said.

After researching exactly where Monsanto’s genetically modified corn appeared in her family’s diet and becoming concerned about potential negative health effects, Melania Trump said she was “amazed at the place this company has in the food chain“.

I think that would be wonderful, though I don't know how much influence she has. From what I understand, much of the world, and US, disapproves of the President right now. I think some of that disapproval is getting cast on the First Lady, whether or not she deserves it. But, I'm very glad that she is banning it from the White House and feeding her son organic foods. Wise choices on her part, and they increase my respect for her.

I think I would have phrased it more gently, but yep, thoroughly debunked. I'm cynical enough that I would have wondered if Monsanto had found some incentive or pressure to convince her to go back on something she'd already said, if she were actually living at the White House.

Still, I think there's the high possibility that it's got people to talk more about this issue. Even debunked it is the kind of story that gets passed around and those people who do like Trump might be inspired to ask "why would she want to?" where otherwise they'd never have put any thought into it.  I'm fairly sure that even as 'fake news' Monsanto has some bleeping words to say about this story.
