I give this tree nursery 10 out of 10 acorns

Website:  chiefrivernursery.com

Location: 976 Ulao Road, Grafton, WI 53024

Shopping Experience:  I shopped online and their website is great.  They have a wide variety of shrubs, nuts, fruits and other trees.  Apples, peaches, grapes, plum, elderberry, serviceberry, hazelnut, blueberry, etc.  Each plant is described very well and it gives zone, size, fruiting time, moisture requirements, expected size, etc.

Prices:  Prices are very affordable.  I got 50 American Hazelnut seedlings for $2.23 a piece.  Shipping was $17.

Delivery:  I ordered in the early spring so I was prepared to wait until the ground was thawed.  They arrived May 1st, packaged well with damp moss.

Planting success:  Due to a lot line dispute I had to wait 2 weeks to plant them and I kept them in a bucket with the damp moss in my root cellar.  Less than ideal, I know.  Since they were hardwood bare root seedlings, the root ball is pretty substantial.  I used a shovel to plant in a variety of soil types (variations of sand and loam) in a spot that was 1/2 shade.  It was a wet spring so I only watered them by hand twice.  All the seedlings leafed out and grew this year.  The neighbor mowed over two of them (bent over and deleafed) and those even came back.

Communication:  Normal.  Got an immediate email when the order was placed and a notification when it was shipping.

I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for affordable common plants for your property.

Add your experiences if you want.  Please "keep it nice".
