I was wondering, is it possible to create a round RMH? Not the J part of it, but the heating part where the pipe go with all the mass around. I havent been able to find any reason for it not to work, however i've not found any reason why it should neither.

kind regards
Deras

The mass can be any shape you want, as long as you keep track of the number of elbows or bends and factor them into the length of flue you have going through it.

You can make it round easily with bells (stratification chambers) instead of pipes for extracting heat.

One example is here:

It could be round like a cylinder or like a sphere or an egg. But some may be more difficult to build;-)

Do you mean you want to make a J tube and riser in a barrel with a bench mass all the way around out in the middle of the room?  If so then using a hollow bench instead of pipe in cob would avoid restriction of elbows. You could have the exit manifold on one side of the J tube and the chimney flue on the other side. The back of the bench would be heated across an air gap by radiation and the air between the barrel and the bench if connected with a cold air return would circulate warm air to where the the return starts even in another room.
Here is a description of the bench
