I also think it looks like stinging nettle. Little tiny stinging nettle.

Would you consider a work exchange for a part of your plot?Myself and my partner would really appreciate this opportunity
We do not have much in the way of start up money but we do have a vehicle, tools and years of animal husbandry gardening, building and a small income from our online businesses. We also could take over some of your internet posting.I have quite a bitof experience with YouTube, social media and website building.I could work with helping you document the progress and help you publish a book.My partner is very strong and has good building skills.
At some point we could put money towards the project but doing so now would take us longer to save to get to Montana. We realize we are losing valuable time in getting our shelter built. We would be able to stay indefinitely. We would like to have our own piece of your amazing community.

Julia and Tyler, I agree they do look like they could have been stinging nettles, but they didn't seem to have any sting, and I think Kai tentatively identified them as something else, but I can't remember what. They totally could have been nettles though and we just managed to somehow not realize it, or maybe a nettle look-alike is behind these rumours of nettles in greenough park.

Vicki, as far as a work exchange for a small plot of land, I would consider it. No guarantees, but provided we all get along, what you describe is a possibility.

If this is a path that you might be interested in pursuing, the first step will be to sign up as a gapper on Ava and come on out here!

Year 2, Summer (1)

It's been a while since I posted. So much has happened!

Went on a little summer vacation. On the way down to a family reunion, I spent a few days with my friend in denver. It was pretty surreal being in such a big city, especially the industrial area my friend was inhabiting.

While there I helped him with constructing an ad-hoc hammock-ready guerrilla junk tower out of big steel shelves and random scraps. And also weaved some old bamboo poles into a chainlink fence, urban junkpole style.

Urban environments sure have a lot of potential from a permaculture perspective, in terms of abundant construction resources, free dumpster food, microclimates, and surface area, but aside from some edges and parks, precious little of it is inhabited by plant life, much less edible plant life. Cities are interesting, but give me the woods any day.

Family reunion, featuring both the california cousins and the texas cousins. Ping pong. Board games. Charades. Delicious food. Good times.

We visited mesa verde, touring some of the cliff dwellings of the ancestral pueblo people.

Also I made some art.

I really dig dioramas, and mesa verde had some sweet ones.

Wow, Evan!  Thanks so much for taking me.. er, us.. along ;)   I feel that I've 'seen' into the lives in those ostensibly 'formidable' environments... and the juxtaposition with the city industrial areas says something, also.  ;)

Those are interesting dioramas Evan! And the real old structures of course are inspiring too.

I'd appreciate it if you pronounced my name correctly. Pinhead, with a silent "H". Petite ad:
