Hey everyone. I would like to grow some creeping strawberries on my balcony, because I have got some kind of wooden grating on it. Have you ever tried to do it in such conditions? Is it too late for growing them now? I am looking forward all your tips!
I've heard of people growing strawberries in pieces of rain gutter with soil in them. I'd imagine if that works, anything you want to do on your balcony would work just fine. I'm assuming you plan to put pots or planters on your balcony?
It's not too late to plant strawberries. You probably won't get berries this year but the plants should put out runners and set you up for 4x the plants next spring.
"Hundreds of years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in or the type of car I drove... But the world may be different because I did something so bafflingly crazy that it becomes a tourist destination"
I’ve been growing strawberries on my deck for years. They grow great in Earthboxes. I use a cold frame over 12 planters to keep the water from freezing in the bottom of the pots. Lots of thermal mass. If you plant a day neutral variety soon, you might get some fruit this year. I like Aromas. You might have trouble finding plants during the summer. Maybe you can get some from a gardener.
Edible Landscaping probably has some potted plants. Not sure what varieties.
She'll be back. I'm just gonna wait here. With this tiny ad:
