BRK# 57, Days 97-99

Saturday November 6

Rainy day, not ideal for getting much done. I cleared some paths and did some earthworks at my plot. Assessed the door a bit, but I still have to tackle the doorknob replacement project.

Sunday November 7

The boots went to harvest firewood in the morning, but the truck got stuck... Eventually she got out, but the trailer was not going to be moved from its spot on the road. I did my laundry and chopped a few pounds of carrots and celery. They went into the rocket assisted solar dehydrator, and I got the fire going in the cold of night to start the drying process.

Monday November 8

We went to the lab in the morning, got the truck and trailer set, and began to harvest a big tree. Didn't get too far before we went through all the chainsaw batteries we brought. In the afternoon, we got the Solarium roof nearly complete.

BRK #58, Days 100-103

Tuesday November 9

In the morning, Caleb and I went under the red cabin to begin the first step toward insulating the floor. I helped Dez finish the roof of the Solarium in the afternoon.

Wednesday November 10

Firewood harvest in the morning, then finishing the vapor barrier under the red cabin in the afternoon.

Thursday November 11

Tidying the shop in the morning, and working on the water pipe  with the excavator in the afternoon.

Friday November 12

More organizing in the shop, then filling the trench with the tractor at the lab.

under flooring insulation... Yikes, claustrophobia kicks in just seeing the pic!
use that mallet (or Thor's hammer) to smash apples for apple cider and apple pie - a perfect tool if you are strong enough to use it

While doing that I was thinking about how much it would suck if I had claustrophobic tendencies. Apples, watermelons, gourds, it makes no difference. The mega mallet can SMASH it all if one is strong enough to wield it.

Hey Grey, I'm enjoying your journal, thanks!

If you continue with archery, remember to pull the bow on the other hand just as many times as you loose with your dominant side. It doesn't take long to end up with lopsided muscle development, which can cause back problems, tendonitis, etc. I wish you many meditations in your future archery :)

BRK #59, Don't know how many days.

So it's been a couple'a months since my last entry. During that time, a lot has happened: Some WWOOFers came through. We had an epic Thanksgiving dinner. Our beloved Ziqi boy passed on and was mourned. Prep for the winter event ramped up. I took a 3 week vacation to visit home for Christmas and New Year's. I celebrated with close family and connected with old friends. A new batch of little kitchonkens was transplanted to Basecamp. I returned in time to help with final event prep, deal with more than a foot of snow cover, and meet our new Boot, Jeff. The attendees arrived, along with Helen and her puppers and now we're in the thick of the 2022 Garden Master Course!

BRK #60, It's a Winter Weatonland ❄️

The week before I took off to go home for the holidays, we got our first major.snow.of winter. The week I returned, it fell seemingly non-stop. Snow brings such great beauty and tedium with correlation with how much of it accumulates.
