2/3 cup elderberry juice
3 1/2 cups water
2 TBS. ground ginger
1 TSP. cinnamon
1/2 TSP. ground cloves (optional)
1 cup raw local honey

Place all ingredients except honey into sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 45 minutes until volume is reduced to about half. Remove from heat & let cool. When no longer hot mix in honey & stir thoroughly. Put honey into jars & seal.

Take 2 TBS once a day for immunity to allergens. If sick with virus or flu take several times per day.

Builds up your immune system to local allergies & chest viruses.

Shake before using to mix honey as it sinks to bottom of jar.

Feel free to send the $$$ you save on doctors to me:)

I was banished to the 'dweeb chair' during my last cold when my sister advised me to make some elderberry tea.  I was stoked to tell her there was a bush right out in the front yard.  When I called her again ready to make the brew, I asked her how many leaves I should use per cup.......

:-(

....didn't think I'd need the berries..... small detail.

No viruses better try and bother Greg Martin this fall/winter!

I just finished up a batch of elderberry syrup per the recipe in Alicia's book....I didn't see yours before making this Mike, but it's relatively similar.  I had a bit left over that went into a glass with a shot of vodka and then topped off with ginger ale....very nice way to start my virus defense.  I'm guessing that this much syrup would have cost me something like $400 at the health food store.  Should have enough for flue season!
