This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Plumbing.

In this Badge Bit, you will replace that broken dishwasher!

Here's someone doing it:

Our dishwasher broke and it would have cost almost as much to fix as it costs just to get a new dishwasher. I am honestly super excited that I did this myself and it was much less intimidating than I thought at first, especially after watching the video posted here. My water line didn't look exactly like the one in the video but I was able to figure it out pretty quick. I also didn't have the right electrical cable but I was able to find it pretty quickly and order it (I just had to wait a couple days to finish the job).

The old dishwasher:

I pulled it out. There was a very old mouse skeleton on top of it (gross).

There were three connections to deal with. The power cable is behind the dishwasher. The water line and the drain hose go through holes to get under the sink to the right.

Unhooking the water connections. A bunch of yucky gunk came out the drain hose and it smelled like death.

Hooking up the connections on the bottom of the new dishwasher. It was actually not too hard to follow the instructions. I also had to adjust the feet to a specific height at this stage.

Once I got my correct power cable, I hooked it up no problem.

Pushing the dishwashwer back in and trying to get the insulation to stay on was probably the hardest part. Then I adjusted the front feet to level it.

A clean load of dishes!
