Summary

This easy-fill, easy-clean poultry drinker is molded from long-life plastic. It features a top-fill bucket using a float in the base to allocate water to the rim. This drinker is excellent for indoor and outdoor use and accommodates up to 56 chickens or game birds for 3.5-gallon or 100 for 6.25-gallon.

I give this product 8 out of 10 acorns.

I own two of the Harris Farms Poultry Drinkers and I have found them to be sufficient as a flock watering device. One of the waterers I own is a three gallon version which is used outside of the winter months and then I have a larger six gallon one that sits on a plate heater during the winter. It is easy to keep the waterer clean on the inside as the lid fits tightly to the body. The plastic body is slightly on the thin side, you can feel it flex in hand when moving it which makes me nervous but so far no cracking. I reduced the score by a couple acorns for the use of non-Permie materials but there are not many as-good alternatives on the market at this time.

4/2/2024 Update - I have had these poultry drinkers over the winter with no hiccups. With a plate heater, you will have some ice formation high up in the waterer that might make you think there is water in the drinker but don't be fooled! The body has not cracked or appeared to have any environmental damage so far. The lid fits so snugly, its great when there are wind stores but terrible when you don't want to put anything down while you refill it with a jug.

2/18/2025 Update - Weathered another year without much issues. There was one time where the space where the water comes out of the reservoir into the outer rim was clogged with some chips that a bird must've kicked it. The drinker disassembled and reassembled without issue. Still pleased with this purchase.

I would recommend this product to everyone.

I have run into an instance where the water was not dispensing properly. I disassembled the unit and found a rock was messing with how the unit worked. Luckily, I have found a video discussing what I'm talking about in case anyone needs a reference for troubleshooting their own waterer.
